Riding out at the Equitation Centre

-

Ayrshire Equitation Centre has a real family history in Ayrshire.

The Centre was started in 1953 by John Galbraith and could be found in Ayr centre called Castle Hill Stables.

John was later joined by his son Kevin in the mid 1980s who came into the business as a partner.

Requiring more space because of the big growth in the business, in September 1996 they moved the business to South Mains, Corton Road, with Kevin having designed and built a brand new centre.

Now established 20 years at the centre in Corton Road, they are Ayrshire’s largest and longest established Riding School and Livery Centre, hosting an impressive range of facilities, such as an all weather outdoor school, woodland track, covered Indoor School, and all weather turnout ménage.

They are currently the only Equestrian centre in Ayrshire to be independently verified and approved by both the British Horse Society and The Trekking and Riding Society of Scotland.

One area which arose out of the new centre ( which was unexpected) was their transition into retail.

In the last 20 years they have moved from being a small on site shop to one of the largest retailers of equestrian and country equipment in the UK.

With a large online presence, retailing at major equestrian events and their on site store at the centre – equestrian fans can find whatever they’re looking for at the touch of a button in the comfort of their own home, at all the major events, or in person at their centre’s fabulous store.

With Kevin running the centre with major help from wife Lisa, and two children, Elliot and Caitlin, this is truly a family business.

They hope to continue offering people in Ayrshire the chance to enjoy time with horses for many years to come.
