Troon’s Royal Party for 2017 have been unveiled.

And Queen Leah Dunsmuir and Princess Tess Donnelly met each other for the first time last night ( Tues) for an Ayrshire Post photograph with Iain Brown.

The girls were chosen to be the town’s first couple at a special meeting of Troon Community Council in the town hall last week.

Queen Leah, 11, and ten- year- old Tess will be officially crowned at Troon Gala on June 24.

They will take over all royal duties in the town from Nathalie Buesa and Eilidh Baird who served with distinction.

Leah is in primary six at Muirhead and Tess is a Troon Primary.

The girls were selected by community councillors, headed by chairman Helen Duff, after applying for the prestigious roles.

Alongside photographs were a letter about why they wanted to represent their town.

All girls were given a number and judges handed in their selection for counting.

Leah’s mum Mellissa said: “When she was told she absolutely froze and I wondered what had happened.

“She has been seeing the Queen on parade since she was three and has always said she would love the role.

” She actually re- wrote her application letter five times so was so keen.”

Leah is a keen member of the Caralyn Bell dance school and has taken part in the grand parades before.

But this year she will be leading it.

The Troon Princess is Tess Donnelly and mum Fiona revealed: “She simply thinks it would be lovely to have the chance to represent her own town and she is very proud.

“Tess enjoys being very creative and loves drama and music and plays piano and violin.”
