No ducking their luck

-

I loved last week’s report of the Mother Duck and her family who decided to do a little “shopping” on Ayr’s busy Kyle Street.

It reminded me of another occassion - when a duck decided to go a- wandering on the other side of town.

Our feathered friends found themselves in Ayr’s Newmarket Street and – like many a visitor to these parts – stopped off at the Wee Windaes for rest and refreshment.

They were warmly received by customers and staff – but the landlord reluctantly concluded that the ducklings were under age and would have to leave!

This duck tale has a happy ending.

The family were safely relocated to a new River Ayr home – and the landlord was showered with gifts from grateful duck friendly well- wishers . . plastic ducks, china ducks, wooden ducks, paper ducks . . .

The same landlord is still there, and a little beaky bird tells me that he still welcomes “ducky” gifts to remind him of that special day!

If you have something suitable – why not drop it in?

Just ask for “Mallard McSherry”.

And I can guarantee you a quacker of a welcome!
