- Stuart Wilson

A raft of top entertainment will be drafted in to boost the new- look Ayr Flower Show.

Bosses are determined the revived event flourishes outside the exhibitors’ tents.

Committee member Albany McKay, 72, said: “We see this being a great platform, especially for local entertainers.

“The new venue of Ayr Racecourse is absolutely fantastic and it promises to be the ideal setting.”

Award winning Ayr musician Jamie McGeechan will join the trawl for talent.

Albany, who used to book bands for Ayr’s Bobby Jones nightclub, added: “I know Jamie well so have asked him to help out with booking.

“Ideally, we’d love to keep them local and give great exposure at the new show.

“We’re currently on the lookout for sponsors so hopefully we can get things moving quickly.”

The new- look show will take place at the racecourse on Friday, August 18, and Saturday, August 19.

Admission has been slashed to just £ 5- a- head with children free. Ayr soprano Nicola Cassels has already been lined up.
