Brian Hughes is a top jockey and a very serious man who leaves no stone unturned in his quest for winners as he proved last season when finishing runner up to Richard Johnson in the jockeys championship.
At Stratford on Sunday he was banned for 10 days for not pulling up Clondaw Draft quickly enough when the horse went lame after crossing the line to win the novice chase.
Hughesie went ballistic and will appeal the ban saying he dismounted the horse as soon as he felt something was wrong. I wouldn’t mess with him and I’d lay money on the jockey winning this fight with authority.
As I highlighted last week it was the annual Wee Windaes Betting Club dinner at the Kylestrome last Thursday which I had to miss but I’m told it was a belter.
Brian Paterson in his first year in the Club picked up the top prize for having the highest returns. Nino’s booby prize is in the post.
