Craig sets sights on a Junior double

-

Craig McEwan says Glenafton are gunning for the double after winning the Premier title for the first time.

The New Cumnock side, who have qualified for a shot at next season’s Scottish senior cup, take on Auchinleck in the Junior Cup final at Rugby Park a week on Sunday.

But boss McEwan reckons Talbot will be hurting like mad after losing the Premier crown they have held for the last four years.

Glens clinched the flag with a 2- 0 win at Rob Roy while Talbot foundered to a 3- 0 defeat at Beith.

McEwan said: “It’s frightening what we have done and it hasn’t yet sunk in. But it means we can now go into the Junior Cup final and enjoy ourselves.

“We have written ourselves into the history books but we are under no illusions that we face a difficult task in the final.

“Talbot are going for a 12th cup win and are the benchmark in Junior football.

“When Craig Potter and I came back we vowed to win a trophy but this is unbelievable. I believe we have a squad capable of winning the cup.”
