Family attack
His sleepover rage
A sheriff wants to see a psyschological report on a young man who threatened his mother and sister.
Liam Strachan, 20, admits intimidating his mother and 15- year- old sister at his mother’s home in Barbieston Road, Auchinleck.
Ayr Sheriff Court heard that Strachan’s sister had friends staying over on Friday, February 17.
The friends hadn’t left by noon the next day – much to his displeasure.
Depute fiscal Kevin Jarvis said Strachan told his sister: “Get them out before I trail them out.”
In his rage, he stormed went outside, and smashed a garden ornament.
Back inside, his sister told him to ‘ shut up’, he told her he would ‘ gie her a sair face’
He then threw a kitchen knife against a wall, grabbed his sister by the ankles, and pulled her off the sofa.
Strachan had another meltdown on May 17 this year when he threatened violence against his mother and sister, and smashed items of property.
“He left the house in an enraged state, and his mother phoned the police,” said Mr Jarvis.
“She thought he was a risk to himself as his behaviour has been problematic since his father’s death.”
Defence lawyer Robert Logan said the young man had an apprenticeship in an aeronautical company, prior to his father’s death.
Mr Logan said Strachan decided to take the role of father when putting his sister’s friends out.
Mr Logan said Strachan was now staying with an aunt and uncle in Cumnock.
Sheriff Desmond Leslie said he had seen ‘ heartfelt and emotional letters’ from Strachan’s mother and sister.
He deferred sentence on Strachan until July 11, for a pyschological report, and continued his bail.
