Sponsorshi­p for the event was provided by Tom Bowie and family are in the Scotland squad for the British Under 25 internatio­nals in Wales in September.

And there’s more joy for the Midton Road club with Rebecca Houston selected for the ladies U25s in Ireland.

Ayrshire will also be represente­d by Wendy Grant and Lawra Cox in the full ladies team and by Martin Williamson in the full gents team.

Playing at U25 level are Dawn Anderson, Sarah Kennedy and Stephanie Wallace in the ladies and Craig Burns and Chris Carswell in the gents.

● Ayrshire South beat Renfrewshi­re South 112- 100 at Neilston. The North beat Lanarkshir­e West 121- 110 at Troon.

On Saturday, South play Wigtownshi­re at Ayr Craigie while North face Argyll & Bute at Kirk. On Sunday, the U25s play Glasgow at Fairlie. Newton Park won the Greengauge Ladies Top 6, beating Cumnock 6- 0.

Winning team was Dawn Anderson ( singles), Louise Noon and Jane Spence ( pairs), Elizabeth Nelson, Elizabeth Campbell and Anne Brown ( triples).

The Newton Quaich ladies pairs takes place on Friday at 6.30pm. Ties are: Maybole MP & Kirkmichae­l v Newton Park; Cumnock v Seafield; Wattfield v Maidens; Maybole v Coylton.
