CANCER SUPPORT Why not try Reiki, a mindfulness class or get beauty tips?
We find out what’s happening at Ayrshire Cancer Support this month. We have changed the name of our Clinical team to Therapeutic Services.
This is simply because it allows us to have so many other options available under the same grouping.
Clients will still receive the same excellent services— the only difference is the name.
Ayrshire Cancer Support are working in conjunction with NHS Ayrshire and Arran to run Health and Wellbeing events at both our Kilmarnock and Ayr Centres.
Have you finished your cancer treatment in the past year?
Join us at one of our events to find out about emotional wellbeing, ways to manage issues, nutrition, healthy active lifestyles, support and information.
August 16, 10am to 1pm, Ayr Centre; October 26, 1pm to 4pm, Kilmarnock Centre.
Are you interested in finding out more about what Mindfulness is and how it can be used in everyday life?

Reiki is a gentle but powerful technique that seeks to restore the natural balance of the body. A noninvasive complementary therapy, it can evoke a sense of peace and well- being. Its gentle nature means that it is suitable for all ages and can be given in conjunction with medical treatments and any other complementary therapy.
Ayrshire Cancer Support will deliver a four week certificate Reiki 1 course ( learning how to use reiki for yourself and loved ones); this enables clients to self- manage. Clients who may feel too unwell to attend the centre ( or are socially isolated) will be able to continue providing a reiki treatment to themselves or their loved ones. Treatment with reiki energy can help rebalance in terms of mind, body and spirit. Potential benefits are:
Deep relaxation, reduced fatigue, a positive impact on mood and performance, an improved sense of well being, improved confidence levels, stimulated immune system.
Introduction takes place on August 4 from 11.30am to 1.30pm followed by a four week worskshop.
To book a place on any of the courses contact the Ayrshire Cancer Support team on 01563 538008.
