Guitar legends will kick up a WinterStorm
Organisers of the popular WinterStorm rock festival are gearing up for another big year.
The festival thrilled music lovers in its first edition last year and have revealed some of the names already signed up for the 2017 festival.
British groups Praying Mantis and Tygers of Pan Tang have both agreed to return, while guitar legends Bernie Torme from Gillan and Bernie Madsen of Whitesnake will appear with their bands.
Graham Bonnet of Rainbow fame will be live on stage on the Saturday night, and the more melodic side of the weekend sees US rockers Tyketto and DARE appearing.
Organiser Ian McCaig said: “We were really fortunate with our first year line- up and there was a quality right through both days and it’s going to be difficult to follow.
“The full line up will be revealed on July 23, and we hope that we can match expectations.”
Sixteen bands will appear across the weekend with a mix of genres and ages, with up- and- coming young bands Mason Hill, Stone Broken, Massive Wagons, Bigfoot and The King Lot already confirmed.
Six more acts – including a couple of surprises – will be unveiled when the full lineup is published later this month.
As well as live music on the main stage at Troon Concert Hall, the weekend will feature a host of add- ons including the return of the highly successful South Beach Acoustic Stage and After Show Party.
More than 60 per cent of available tickets have already been sold to rock lovers from Wales, England, Sweden, Spain and Germany, while three hotels offering ticket packages have sold out their rooms.
It’s expected music fans will add more than 600 bed nights to the local economy over a normally quiet winter weekend and organisers hope the event will reache a sell- out by the end of summer.
