A football director has proved on the ball after landing an Honorary Directorate from Ayr’s university.
Honest Man Graham Peterkin has received the special recognition from UWS.
Peterkin, a former vice chair at the university, is now a powerbroker at Ayr United.
He served on the University Court for nine years following a local government career which spanned 40 years, including a stint as depute chief exeuctive of South Ayrshire Council.
Voluntary spells have since included a directorship of the Ayr Gaiety Partnership ( AGP).
He is also a Trustee and vice chair of Action Against Stalking, a locally based charity which raises awareness of the crime and its effects on victims.
Graham said: “It was a genuine privilege and indeed an honour for me to have the opportunity to serve as a member of the Court of UWS for the period that I did.
“I was delighted to make whatever contribution that I could to so many different aspects of the governance of such a fine and progressive educational institution.
“It was an extremely special moment in my life to receive such an award from an organisation that has come to mean so much to me personally.”
Graham took his bow at the graduation ceremony in Troon Concert Hall on Friday.
