Read all about it at new library

- Michael Reynolds

Book lovers are in for a real treat as the doors were officially opened on a new village library.

And the John Rodie Library in Annbank will keep the memory of an Ayrshire literary icon alive for decades to come.

The Mossblown poet’s daughter Margaret, son Gordon and grandson Christopher were all there for the official opening.

Councillor Brian McGinley said: “Named after a well- loved local poet , it’s fitting that close members of John Rodie’s family were able to be here to join the celebration of his work as his name is dedicated to this fantastic facility.”

The new library, built alongside Annbank Primary’s extension, is part of £ 94 million of new South Ayrshire works.

The custom- built space will offer internet access, free wi- fi and areas for public events. Any groups looking for a small, comfortable meeting space are welcome.
