Cafe and retail unit to open at Smithy

- Lochlin Highet

A new cafe and retail unit is set to open just off the A77.

Antique Antics at The Smithy are based at the Sandyford roundabout and are changing their existing workshop to form a cafe, retails sales area and car parking facilties.

The site is currently made up of two buildings, one being a ‘ pit stop’ for food and drink, and the other for storage and accommodation for the adjacent commercial operations.

The applicants held talks with Transport Scotland, Ayrshire Roads Alliance, Enviromental Health and Prestwick Airport, with none having any objections to the plans.

A statement from the approving parties said: “The sitting and design of the development hereby approved is considered to accord with the provisions of the development plan and there is no significant adverse impact on the amenity.”
