Police in drugs swoop

Around £ 50,000 worth of Class A drugs have been seized in Mauchline.

Police officers raided the home at around 8am on Saturday and found what is believed to be a “substantia­l quantity” of drugs, believed to be cocaine.

Inspector Colin Shearer, community police inspector for the area, said: “The supply of controlled drugs and concerns regarding drug misuse continue to be one of the main concerns raised by members of the community in East Ayrshire.

“Police executing warrants to search properties and recovering controlled drugs is only made possible with the continued support of the community.

“I would urge anyone with informatio­n regarding the sale or supply of drugs to contact their local policing team by calling 101 or to speak with your local community police officer.

“A l t e r n a t i v e l y , i n f o rmation can be provided anonymousl­y via Crimestopp­ers.”

A 23- year- old man has been arrested for offences relating to the alleged supply of controlled drugs.

He was held in police custody to appeat at court and a full report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
