No thought over golf plan

-

I’ll leave others to comment on the timing of the Belleisle Golf Academy proposal being published shortly before a similar proposal at Heathfield which South Ayrshire Council must have been aware of.

However, given the aims of both proposals are so similar, I do wonder why the council did not join forces with the private contractors and create a joint venture. The green field site at Heathfield looks ideal for the purpose.

My greater concern is the proposal to use a major piece of the Old Racecourse for the Belleisle expansion.

People have enjoyed the amenity of the open space at the Old Racecourse for many years whether it be for walking, jogging, exercising the dog, playing football or just relaxing.

Now in the name of golf they propose to totally change this popular open space.

I suggest that anyone who agrees with my concern should go to the Town Hall and pick up a copy of the glossy brochure which outlines the plan.

I find it very disturbing that South Ayrshire council are so eager to support this plan at the expense of other users of this leisure space.

Finally, it would be interesting to know how much council time and money has gone into this venture. those most recently past. What does it take to get you to publish a positive story about NHS A& A in particular University Hospital Ayr?

This week you did manage to print two small articles buried in tiny columns on P6: Wait time target of four hours had been met in A& A emergency departments by 96% exceeding the target set by the Scottish Government of 95%. On P10 Stroke of Genius an award for the Acute Stroke Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse.

Both of these awards/ targets are due to the hard work of all the staff involved and surely warrant more coverage.

However, the new Combined Assessment Unit at Ayr opened on June 17, had an opening on June 16 with ribbon cutting and a photographer in attendance and to date there has been no mention of this.

It surely should have made the front page of the paper or at least P2.

This impressive development has involved a lot of effort from staff in all disciplines over a considerable amount of time providing an excellent facility with single rooms with en suite facilities for medical and surgical patients allowing them to benefit from investigations at the “Front Door” rather than be admitted to a ward to await investigations an example of “Decide to admit” rather than “admit to decide”

I know that negative stories probably sell more papers but please when we do have something to be proud of in the NHS could you please print them. I had gone on to the council website three times in May and June.

I informed the council that the grasses were BEGINNING to spread and advised them to clear them before they got out of hand .

I also spoke to a lady at the council who had received my complaints. She said they had no funding to clear the grasses.

She also told me I would be contacted to discuss this matter. I have not been contacted and I realised I had to give this fight up as they were not interested in doing anything about clearing the grasses.

I now unfortunately realise it appears my fears were correct. But I just wanted to let you know the council were well aware of this matter when it was manageable. I need to get in touch with the widow of the late Jack Alexander ( Alexander brothers duo ).

I know her name is Lil ( Lillian) and I am hoping to get in contact with her or any other family members .

I know she lives in the Ayrshire area. I wondered if through your readers I might be able to find a family member of Jack’s.

I have been trying for many years to get in touch with this family.
