NEWS FROM THE PEWS FLOWER POWER Flower fever will grip a Maybole church next weekend.

The congregati­on of St Oswald’s Episcopal Church will host a flower festival as part of the Maybole 500 event.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 5 from 10.30am to 4pm and Sunday August 6 from 12.30 until 5pm. Admission is free and refreshmen­ts will be served. SHIVER ME TIMBERS Riverside Church will run a Pirates Holiday Club.

The fun playtime at the Ayr church will take place between July 31 and August 3 from 10am to 12pm. P1 to P7 children are welcome. Entry is free. Details are available from the church office. TIME TO GATHER Monkton Community Church offers informal worship sessions dubbed ‘ The Gathering.’ It is an opportunit­y to meet for food, fellowship and worship. The challengin­g prayer meetings have been running for a few months and are led by members of the ‘ path of renewal group.’

The aim is personal growth. The ‘ Gathering’ meets on the second Sunday of the month at 4pm for food followed at 5pm with an informal time of worship and praise. MUSICAL NOTES Young musicians are expected to hit the right notes at Troon’s Portland Parish Church. The Kentigern Quartet are booked to play on Sunday, September 17 at 3pm. TEATIME An afternoon tea at Castlehill Parish Church raised £ 315 for the Erskine Hospital. There was a good attendance with church members and their friends enjoying themselves. The ladies responsibl­e for organising and providing the tea were Liz Hunter, Marian Reid, Margaret Grierson, Moira Alexander and Margaret Graham. MAKEOVER The sanctuary at Prestwick South Church has been redecorate­d. The congregati­on are delighted with the new bright look of the space. Next on the agenda is replacemen­t of the aging notice boards. UPLIFTING PRAYER Healing services take place at 7pm on the third Sunday of every month at Kingcase Church.
