Lessons in Twitter for teachers

-

Primary School teachers have been given a lesson in social media by Ayrshire College.

The College’s Business Development team organised a two hour course on how best to use Twitter after they were approached by the school.

Ayrshire College was named the best college in the UK for Twitter and LinkedIn content by the social media ranking tool Edurank earlier this year.

They are now offering social media training to schools who require assistance in using Twitter or Facebook to communicate with parents and guardians, on a daily basis, about what their pupils are working on in class.

Jennifer Sambells, Digital Marketing Officer at Ayrshire College, delivered the training and

said: “The majority of the teachers did not use Twitter at all, so we went through the benefits of using social media as a school and what kind of updates they could post, using examples from Ayrshire College.

“More and more people want to get an insight into what their child is doing throughout the day, which they might not get through less frequent communication methods such as school newsletters.

“The school is now set up with a Twitter account following our training which they can update as often as they wish.

“The session was really positive and was reflected in the feedback.”
