- Michael Reynolds

The first names have been announced for this year’s Tamfest in Ayr – and it’s set to be real cracker.

The headline act will be Still Game stars Jane McCarry and Mark Cox – better known as Tam and Isa, two of the undoubted stars of the legendary show.

Organiers said: “It is an honour for us to have one of our headline performers Jane McCarry and Mark Cox who are none other than Isa and Tam from Still Game.

“Without a doubt they will be one of the highlights of the festival. You will not want to miss their performance which is being created specially created for Tamfest.”

Joining them will be Scottish X Factor finalist Emily Middlemas, who has already performed n front of 17,000 racegoers at the Scottish Grand National Festival.

She has also toured arenas around the country as part of the X Factor’s live stage show – and organisers say there will be a special Tamfest surprise from the singer on the day.

Opening the main stage on Sunday, October 29 will be Drums N Roses featuring some of the best pipers and drummers in Scotland with a mix of rock, pop and traditional Scottish music.

Following that will be Clann An Drumma, Scotland’s premier tribal drum band. Their music involved Highland bagpipes with a twist of tribal drumming that promises to get the blood stirring.

And Cameron Hill, a young Ayrshire performer, will recite his unique version of Tam O’Shanter that organisers say is not to be missed.

Joining them will be Cheryl Barnes, a well known Ayrshire based singer who has been praised as “technically the best female singer Scotland has”, with a voice and stage presence that few can match.

Closing the main stage will be popular Ayr band Fusion, who have experience of a number of high profile events and will close the stage in style with songs that the crowd will know and love.

Keeping people entertained in between the acts will be former breakfast radio favourite Colin McArdle, who will compere throughout the day.

Tamfest originally started as a one- day experiment before growing into a three- day spectacular last week featuring a procession through the town which brought hundreds on to the streets.

The festival also features specially- produced theatre productions and workshops featuring talented creatives from around South Ayrshire.
