Bikes An anti- theft bike project is running throughout South Ayrshire. Dr Bike will be in Troon Library on Wednesday August 16 to provide tags and registrati­on for bike owners of all ages. Bike theft is on the increase and this scheme should give some security. Registrati­on and tagging is free. Superhero Summer Crafts will be held in Troon Library on August 11 from 2pm to 3pm. The crafts are suitable for youngsters aged from 5years to 11years. Memory cafe The first meeting of the Memory Cafe held on Tuesday August 1 in Portland Church Hall was very successful. Its aim is to encourage anyone who is suffering in any way from memory loss to come along with friends and family and meet others coping with the many difficulti­es this condition can cause in every day life. The group is free for all who come along to enjoy coffee and a chat. A donation of £ 1.50 would be appreciate­d. The Memory Cafe is held on the first Tuesday of every month. Tel 01292 513205 for more informatio­n. Open doors During August, Portland Church will be participat­ing in the Open Doors Scheme. Every Thursday and Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm visitors will be made very welcome to enter the church and find out about the history of the building. Peace and quiet from the bustle of daily life can be enjoyed in the beautiful Sanctuary. Troon Foodbank is open every week Tuesday and Friday in Troon Old Parish Church, Ayr Street, Room 2 from 12noon until 2pm. Girls’ Brigade 1st Troon Girls’ Brigade have now resumed. However new members will be made very welcome. The Brigade meets every Monday evening in St Meddan’s Church Hall, Church Street Troon at the following times: P1- P3 – from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
