Fire and light spectacula­r will shine on Dean Castle

A spectacula­r festival of fire and light will brighten up one of Ayrshire’s most historic spots.

Kilmarnock’s Dean Castle Country Park will host Illuminigh­t with state of the art lighting installati­ons and music along a trail showing the Country Park in a new light.

The 1.5km trail will take visitors through the woodland, alongside the illuminate­d River Irvine, and through the fantastic wetland areas with surprises round every corner.

The event will take place between Wednesday, October 25 and Sunday, November 19 ( every night except Mondays) and forms part of the re- opening celebratio­ns for the re- opening of the attraction after a multi- million pound restoratio­n and renovation project.

And you won’t have to worry about going hungry along the way - with quality local food outlets offering the best of Scottish fare along the route.

Councillor Douglas Reid, leader of East Ayrshire Council, said: “We are reaching for the stars with the multi- million pound redevelopm­ent of Dean Castle Country Park.

“Illuminigh­t is a fitting way to celebrate the park re- opening and this world class event will shine a light on Dean Castle Country Park. We look forward to welcoming visitors from far and wide.”

Penny Dougherty, director of Unique Events, said: “We are thrilled to be producing a brandnew fire and light spectacula­r at the stunning Dean Castle Country Park.

“The location is truly worldclass and promises an incredible experience for families which will captivate and thrill thousands of visitors from across the country.

“Given the unique nature of this impressive event and Dean Castle Country Park’s loyal following, we know this will be a very popular event and recommend you get tickets early.

“As the nights start to draw in, we can’t think of a better way to brighten up a dark autumnal evening.”

The event will be designed by Unique Events in collaborat­ion with production specialist­s Black Light.

Black Light have been providing lighting, stage, sound and AV solutions across Scotland for more than 30 years becoming one of the country’s leading sales, hires, events and installati­on companies.

A spokesman said: “We are delighted to be in partnershi­p with Unique Events and Dean Castle Country Park to bring an enchanting event that all the family will enjoy.

“We have been working on the outdoor event for many months and are extremely excited for it to begin.”

Organisers East Ayrshire Leisure and Unique Events are keeping full details of Illuminigh­t under wraps for now - but promise “an unforgetta­ble illuminati­on experience at one of Scotland’s most picturesqu­e sque heritage locations”.

Adult ticketsts cost £ 12 including feess and children’s tickets cost £ 6 with family and group ticketsket­s also available.
