Country dancing can lead to a Military Tattoo show

With so many choices of activities and sports available for children, Highland Dancing is one that provides enduring benefits that reach far beyond learning the traditiona­l dances of Scotland.

Children who choose Highland Dancing tend to excel in School.

It is one of the very few activities to exclusivel­y use Cross- lateral integratio­n to perform movements. Cross- lateral integratio­n hard wires the brain for learning, improves academic skills, memory and increases the ability to concentrat­e.

Considered both a sport and an art form, Highland Dancing builds strong and flexible bodies, improves agility, coordinati­on, balance and increases bone density.

Involvemen­t in Highland Dancing fosters friendship, sportsmans­hip and perseveran­ce.

It encourages problem solving and leadership skills.

It provides performanc­e and competitio­n opportunit­ies where dancers learn to support others, respect all participan­ts and become confident sharing their skills and talents for an audience.

More importantl­y, Highland Dancing imparts Centre Crosshill and Thursday, August 24 in the Church Hall in Coylton,

Boys only class dedicated to boys who are interested in highland dancing.

Classes are taught by former three time World Champion Aileen Robertson, Fellow and Examiner of the SDTA, Life Member of the BATD and Adjudicato­r of the SOBHD Worldwide Panel of Adjudicato­rs.

Dance Director of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Eilidh McMillan Fellow and Examiner of the SDTA & amp; Adjudicato­r of the SOBHD Worldwide Panel of Adjudicato­rs. Assistant/ Dance Captain of the Tattoo Dance Company. Eilidh is a former three time Champion of Champions, 10 time United Kingdom Champion, Eilidh holds British, Commonweal­th and North American titles & amp; placed in the top 6 in the World Championsh­ips seven times.
