A popular window cleaner says parking wardens are taking the shine out of his business after slapping him with a ticket.

Keith McKissock is appealing for the road rangers to lay off his vehicle and for South Ayrshire Council to sell him a special permit instead.

He received a £ 30 fine last week in Ayr while he scrubbed windows in the Sandgate.

The owner of Craigie Cleaning Services blasted: “I have so much business in Ayr but how can I conduct my work if I’m being hounded and getting moved on?

“I have been operating in the centre since 1984. I wouldn’t mind paying £ 300 to have an annual licence so I could clean the windows in peace.”

Keith, 52, needs to have his white Ford van parked beside where he is cleaning to have easy access to his equipment.

But the Ayr s h i re Roads Alliance have told him to park his van in a designated bay and carry his heavy gear, which includes a pressure washer, through streets to various workplaces.

Another impractical option would be to offload his equipment and drive off to a parking place - but that would involve leaving it unattended.

Keith said: “They want me to drop my equipment in the High Street and go off somewhere else to park and walk back to the High Street.

“But if I leave my equipment lying out someone could trip over

I clean hundreds of windows in town . Everybody knows me . . .
