Youths learn to tread boards

-

This month Capall Dorcha Theatre Company embarked on the fourth week- long Ensemble Professional Development Workshop since the organisation was founded in 2015.

This year’s focus was on physical theatre where participants learned a variety of skills including dance, physical movement, clowning and mask work.

This year the local social impact meant that a total of 452 North Ayrshire youngsters took part in a free drama class or week- long workshop.

This year’s physical theatre workshop was delivered by current theatre industry professionals Sophie McCabe, Jennifer McDonald, William Coleman and Barry Robertson, who attended 13 schools in North Ayrshire and Arran and delivered the week- long workshop in Ardrossan.

Executive Creative Producer Barry Robertson said: “This is our busiest ever Ensemble Professional Development workshop since starting in 2015.

“Forty young people across North Ayrshire and Arran participated in this week’s workshop in Ardrossan where our facilitators provided a Physical Theatre Workshop.

“Young participants learned a multitude of skills in movement, clowning, improvisation, puppetry and showcased this at the end of the week with a little sharing in front of friends and family.

“Without our supporters this opportunity would not have happened nor would we have been able to reach 452 young people who took part in the wider region.”
