Time to focus on the Hospice
During 2015/ 16 more than £ 1.4million was kindly left in bequests and legacies to the Ayrshire Hospice by people in their Wills.
These gifts are a vital source of income for the hospice as more than two- thirds of their funding comes from voluntary donations.
The care provided by the Ayrshire Hospice comes at no cost to the patient.
However, it does require extensive, ongoing, fundraising.
It costs almost £ 7.4m to run all hospice services, including clinical, fundraising and support services – equating to approximately £ 20,000 per day.
Last year the hospice ran a Make a Will Fortnight during October to support people to make or update their Will.
More than 35 solicitors’ offices from across Ayrshire and Arran signed up to help with the two- week campaign and offered their will- making service free of charge in return for a discretionary donation to the hospice.
The campaign raised an impressive £ 27,111 with 404 wills being prepared – an increase of 25 per cent on 2015.
Since the very first Make a Will Fortnight six years ago over £ 110,000 has been raised.
Would you consider leaving the Ayrshire Hospice a gift in your Will? Every gift makes a difference to the patients they care for today, their families and loved ones, and those they will care for in the future.
Just one per cent from an estate can make a significant difference and leaving a gift to the hospice in your Will could have tax benefits for your estate by reducing inheritance tax.
Why not make arrangements during this year’s Make a Will Fortnight which takes place between October 16 and 31.
A total of 38 solicitors offices are taking part across Ayrshire.
All you need to do is call a participating solicitor of your choice to book an appointment between those dates and they will guide you through the process including making or updating your Will and collecting the donation of your choice for the hospice.
