A very suc­cess­ful Macmil­lan Cof­fee Morn­ing was held in Troon Li­brary on Thursday Septem­ber 28. The sum of £ 244 was raised for the work of the Macmil­lan Nurses. A Curl Fest – Try Curl­ing for Free - will take place at Ayr Ice Rink, 9 Limekiln Road, on Sun­day Oc­to­ber 15 from noon to 8pm. There will be op­por­tu­ni­ties for fam­i­lies to take part in com­pe­ti­tions and en­joy hav­ing fun on the ice. Troon Com­mu­nity Coun­cil are look­ing for three new Coun­cil­lors. If you are in­ter­ested in tak­ing part in de­ci­sion mak­ing which af­fects the town – for in­stance town plan­ning, bus ser­vices and other is­sues. Con­tact June Thorn­hill, Sec­re­tary, 35 West Cres­cent on 07429924251. Troon OIR will hold its next meet­ing on Wed­nes­day Oc­to­ber 11 at 2pm in Port­land Church Hall. Mar­garet Weir will give a talk on As­sis­tance Dogs - es­pe­cially those who help wheelchair users. The an­nual sub­scrip­tion is £ 10 and new mem­bers are warmly wel­comed. In­door Pe­tanque and Car­pet Bowls have proved to be very pop­u­lar with OIR mem­bers. Ses­sions are held ev­ery Fri­day af­ter­noon in Muir­head Ac­tiv­ity Cen­tre from 2pm to 4pm. Foot­ball Coach­ing Ses­sions are tak­ing place in Troon Old Par­ish Church Hall ev­ery Thursday at the fol­low­ing times: Pre- School chil­dren aged from 2years - 3.45pm to 4.30pm.
