Halloween event to be the scariest ever

Still Game stars to join fun

It will be the spookiest time of the year when the spirit of Halloween comes alive at this year’s Tamfest in Ayr town centre.

Tamfest returns on the weekend of October 27 to 29 and is guaranteed to be bigger and scarier than before.

This year’s headliners are Still Game’s Jane McGarry and Mark Cox, who will be premiering a special performanc­e especially for Tamfest.

Also on the Tam Stage, sponsored by Beattie’s Demo, will be 2016 X- Factor finalist Emily Middlemas.

Ayr Central will be home to the family zone during the weekend and children of all sizes will be able to enjoy free magic shows, facepainti­ng, pumpkin carving and much more!

Ayr’s High Street will have on- street entertainm­ent as well as a special Tamfest Market.

For those festival goers who are brave enough, WarCry Production­s are back to present another frightenin­g interactiv­e haunted house experience, Ravenous! Located in the Town Hall and opening on Friday, October 27, it will run until November 1.

A children’s haunted house will be located in the the Town Hall.

The Gaiety Theatre will be hosting several zombie and Halloween production­s during Tamfest and there will be performanc­es in the surroundin­g communitie­s and village halls

To end the Tamfest weekend with a bang, the Day o’ the Deid Procession will return as the finale performanc­e on the Sunday afternoon and running from one end of the High Street to the other and culminatin­g at the Tam Stage.

Free workshops will also be taking place during the Autumn break and everyone is encouraged to come along to join in the fun. Full details of these workshops is available on the Day o’ the Deid Facebook page.

T h r o u g h o u t t h e weekend the first- ever Tam Fringe events will be happening in local groups and businesses around town; Ayr Film Society, Belleisle Fright Night, Burns Museum exhibit, Big Sparra Vinyl, The Devil’s A s s i s t a n c e, Kawiarnia C o f f e e H o u s e , Cameron’s Pub and many more.

Meredith McCrindle, Tamfest chairwoman, said: “Tamfest continues to grow and this year’s programme is going to be fantastic.

“Not only do we have a great line- up, we also have a supportive community and a wonderful town to celebrate. Everyone is invited to join in the fun.”
