Ayro club stars avoid Vegas horror
Three members of the Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club are home and safe after avoiding the gun massacre in Las Vegas.
Stevie Bryce, Graeme Wyllie and Paul Millar had gone on the trip of a lifetime with others to celebrate most of the group turning 40 this year.
The trio took part in the Las Vegas Sprint Triathlon, where Graeme was second in his age category.
The group became indirectly caught up in the shooting as they were ‘ locked down’ in their adjacent hotel by police hunting the killer.
Fortunately, the sound of gunfire was the closest the lads got to the terror, but it was a frightening experience.
Scottish Triathlon have published their overall results lists for the season, known as the ‘ legends’ which rate athletes in their age category for the season.
The club were placed third overall in the small to medium clubs category, which covers more than 50 clubs from all over the country.
Lorna Todd was second veteran female while Lorna Sloan and Davie Auchie were both third in super veteran female and male respectively.
Alastair Stewart, 60, won the vintage award at the St Andrews Duathlon and just failed by a fraction to win the supervet title too, beating all but one of the 50- year- olds.
Abbie Middleton was top female overall at the Duathlon held at Culzean for South Ayrshire Schools, and run by Ayrshire Competitive Schools Sport.
The Belmont pupil, an enthusiastic member of Ayrodynamic, finished three minutes ahead of her nearest rival over the run bike run course, but also beat all the male competitors apart from the male winner.
