Seaforth get wind up to win golds

Ayr Seaforth had a smaller than usual entry for the Ayrshire Cross Country Relays at a windy Irvine Beach Park but still managed several firsts.

Results: U11 girls ( 1200m): Iona Hubbard 4: 46 ( fastest time); U11 boys ( 3 x 1200m): 1. ‘ A’ team: Daniel Byers, Findlay Muir, Callum Peat 14: 42; 6. ‘ B’ team: Sam McCrorie, Lyle Hill, Brady McLean. Peat had the fastest leg with 4: 32.

U13 girls ( 3 x 2500m): 1. ‘ A’ team: Islay Hubbard, Tess Crooks, Claire McLaughlin 31: 31; 6. ‘ B’ team: Sylvia Home, Jessica Donnelly. Islay Hubbard’s lap time of 9: 55 was quickest in the age group. U13 boys: 2. ‘ A’ team: Conor Scobie, Callum Hannah, Adam Currie 29: 39. Adam was quickest of the boys in 9: 17. ‘ B’ team: Joshua Mirtle ran in a mixed team with a runner from North Ayrshire AC, completing the course in 10: 09.

U15 girls ( 3 x 2500m): 3. ‘ A’ team: Morven Hubbard, Evie Mackay, Kitty Hinton 36: 23. Evie was quickest in 9: 36. U15 boys: 2. ‘ A’ team: Sam Drummond, Max Cunningham, Alex Crooks 32: 03.

U17 girls ( 3 x 2500m): 1. ‘ A’ team: Charlotte McDowall, Kelly Cunningham, Emma Frew 33: 08 with Emma fastest in 10: 15.

Senior women ( 3 x 4000m): 1. ‘ A’ team: Ruth Kirk, Susie Hubbard, Laura Wallace 51: 31 with Laura fastest on the day in 15: 45.

Senior men ( 4 x 4000m): 5. ‘ A’ team: Stephen McCrorie, Ian Young, Iain Pettigrew, Kenny Neill 61: 12. 20. ‘ B’ team: Tim Downie, John Hannah.

Next up are the Scottish National Cross Country Relays at Cumbernaul­d on Saturday.

Places are still available in the TamFest 5k fun run which starts and finishes in Ayr High Street on Sunday.

Start time is midday with entries at the Fish Cross from 11am. Entry is £ 5 for Scottish Athletics registered competitor­s and £ 7 for those not registered. Under 11s must be accompanie­d by an adult.
