Call for better planning on Bonfire Night

Fireworks will light up the night sky in Ayr this week – but both of the town’s big displays take place on Friday.

We asked Ayrshire Post readers whether they believe organisers of both the BUY MSH and Ayr Rugby Club events should plan it out in future years to allow people to attend both.

Rachel Gemmell, 74, from Ayr, said: “I think more people would be able to support them both if they could do them on separate nights.

“I think you’d get more people at both events. It would depend what night they were on but I think it would work better.”

Annbank man Paul Battersby, 56, said: “I think they should organise it better.

“It would be better for the town if more people could go to both of the events, and they didn’t
