CC discuss the flooding progress

At their October meeting, Prestwick South Community Council discussed several items of interest including:

Flooding due to inadequate sewer capacity: Sid Brierley from the internet group ‘ Prestwick Residents Action Against Flooding’ reported on progress in putting pressure on Scottish Water.

He understand­s that Scottish Water are drawing up a plan which should be made available to interested parties in December and suggested that both of Prestwick’s Community Councils invite appropriat­e officials to a public meeting at which their proposals can be heard by those affected by the issue.

Police Report: Several of those present commented on disorderly behaviour in the Main Street in the late evenings while also noting that the police have been quick to deal with these situations.

The congestion caused by large numbers of taxis on both sides of Main Street was also highlighte­d and SAC Cllr Ian Cochrane indicated that the Roads Authority were looking into this.

South Ayrshire Council: Cllr Cochrane reported on several matters including new play equipment at Arran Park, the beach clean- up, Friends of Broadway initiative and A77 road improvemen­ts.

Cllr Hugh Hunter provided an update on Dementia Friendly Prestwick and progress by the Prestwick Business Associatio­n in respect of the setting up of a Business Improvemen­t District for the town.

Cllr Margaret Toner commented on issues regarding fences and trees in the Kings Meadow and Ardfin areas.
