Gun all fired up for Ayr gig

-

One of Glasgow’s most popular rock acts are heading to Ayrshire next month.

Hard- rocking five- piece Gun will head to Ayr Town Hall on Friday, December 1 as promoters Freckfest line up another top acts for music fans in the area.

Released a few short weeks ago, the band’s new LP ‘ Favourite Pleasures’ entered the album charts at number 16, behind other guitar- led new entries that week from the likes of Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age.

Now they will head to Ayr as part of a short tour – including a date at one of Glasgow’s biggest and most legendary gig venues.

Promoters Freckfest said: “To promote the album the band was keen to include an Ayrshire date ahead of a short tour that takes in the Barrowlands as well as dates in Manchester and London. Ayr Town Hall is the perfect venue.

“Gun has a strong following around the world. They’ve toured and shared stages with some of the biggest names in music.

“They’ve tasted bona fide chart success, most notably in 1994 when their cover of Cameo’s ‘ Word Up’ peaked at number eight. We’re very much looking forward to what promises to be a great show.”

The band first formed in 1987 and went on tour with The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard before splitting up in 1997.

Gun reformed in 2008 and went on to perform at that year’s T in the Park festival and have released four albums of new material as well as heading out on numerous tours.

Tickets for Gun at Ayr Town Hall on Friday, December 1 are available via Seetickets. They can also be bought in person from Big Sparra Records on New Bridge Street in Ayr.
