Candlelit tickets for tour of historic house

-

Each week until the end of November, the Ayrshire Post is offering one lucky pair a candlelit tour for two at one of Ayrshire’s most renowned residences.

Dumfries House was saved for the nation 10 years ago by HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, and has become established as a training and education hub that has benefited many local people.

The estate is also a major tourist attraction, with 130,000 people visiting its grounds and more than 20,000 people paying for tours of the house each year. The stories of how its prized Chippendale furniture and some of the finest Scottish art was rescued and retained provide riveting material, but the atmosphere and mood created by a house lit only by candlelight only adds to the appeal of a look round the 18th century Palladian stately home.

Two lucky readers will have the opportunity to book an evening tour, free of charge, on December 12- 14 ( date and time subject to availability), with a glass of fizz prior to the tour and coffee and mince pies to round off the evening.
