Health project

A new strategy aimed at improving mental health care throughout Ayrshire has been launched by NHS chiefs.

The scheme for adults is named the South Ayrshire Adult Community Mental Health Strategy 2017- 2022.

Bosses say it will focus on offering support that is “flexible, tailored, and coordinated to those receiving services”.

The project is also designed to support people to remain at home and reduce social stigma.

Stewart Donnelly of the NHS said: “Our priority is to ensure we provide effective support for people to maintain and recover good mental health in ways that take account of their personal circumstances.

“We have identified what we were doing well and what needed to be improved.”
