Brave son Jonny, 21, who works at Coral in Ayr, was punched on the head when he asked three men to stop harassing his girlfriend at the station on Saturday night.

Andrew told the Post how Jonny, a former Wilko worker in Ayr High Street, was released from hospital on Monday night.

Andrew said: “His eye is badly swollen and completely closed, he’s had 8 to 10 stitches behind the eyelid but until that heals we don’t know about his sight. His confidence has taken a knock.

“He used to chat with all the customers at Wilko.”

Posting an online image of his son’s facial injuries, Andrew, of Ayr, said: “This is my son Jonny before he goes for an operation on that eye.

“He came off the train at Ayr station about 11.50pm last night with his girlfriend after a night in Glasgow and was attacked by three men, two in their 30s and one mid 50s who had all been on the train since it left Glasgow.”

He said he hoped someone had witnessed the assault and that at least 30 to 40 people had disembarked from the train with many returning from the Little Mix concert.

Appealing for help to find the trio, he added: “Now’s the time to say something. He’s not a bad lad by any means and certainly ain’t a troublemaker as anyone that knows him will tell you.

“The police are looking through CCTV footage to try and identify the culprits but I’m putting it on here in the hope that someone witnessed it.”

The victim had joined the 11pm ScotRail service with his girlfriend at Glasgow Central for Ayr.

When the couple tried to leave the train at Ayr, the trio started giving his girlfriend hassle.

After he bravely asked them to stop one man punched him to the head multiple times.

He was rushed to Ayr Hospital where he received stitches for a facial wound .

Police are studying CCTV images to identify the suspects.

One of them is described as 6ft 1in with short spiky black hair. He was wearing a long cream jacket , Burberry scarf on, tanned chinos and black shoes.
