Talk of the town from our social media

-

The news of Girvan having a mobile bank in place of their Royal Bank of Scotland service really got folks talking.

Allan Donnell said: “If people had used the banks and said no to internet banking then they may have been forced to keeping the branches.

“Prestwick now has lost most of the banks. Shops are next. Get out and stop being so lazy.”

Isabel Durkin said: “Why on earth are these people putting up with this?

“There are two other banks in the town and if they all close their accounts with RBS maybe someone will start paying attention to them!”

Georgie Dawson said: “Same issue in Maybole, except you never know where at Greenside it is going to park. “MSP and our last MP were ignored constantly when they complained, but still fighting it because there is no other bank in Maybole.”

We revealed that Troon residents were saying NO to plans of skate parks and bike parks at the seafront - and there were mixed opinions.

Thomas Merry said: “Anything to improve the look of Troon beachfront can only be a good thing as at the moment it’s a miserable shabby eyesore.

“I wonder if these sad- sacks who felt the need to complain ever had a childhood or did they just skip straight to being torn faced whingers.”

Steven Mackie said: “What I want to know is why Troon got to decide what goes at their seafront but Ayr just gets loaded with houses.

“The seafront is not for houses. It is for the community and tourists to enjoy.”

Darren Ravie said: “Moan theres nothing then object and moan to suggestions!

“What folk dont realise is that this will benefit youngsters for years and probably out- live some of the ones objecting!”

Our story about the decline in the number of golf round being dramatically down sparked fierce debate.

Alasdair Malcolm said: “How they can claim their figures to be accurate is astounding.

“Even in the summer months, the starters offices/ shops at SAC courses are not open far past office hours, so how can they quantify how many rounds there are, in the evenings, when there is nobody there to record who’s playing.”

Derek Paterson said: “Maybe if Belleisle hotel was finished more people might have come and played it’s an eyesore at the moment.”

David Mason said: “Its only the number of players paying on council courses there are still many playing golf but just playing when starters closed.”
