‘ House of Horrors’ murder trial date set
Victim Sharon Greenop’s daughter and sister get bail
A woman’s daughter and sister are to stand trial accused of her murder.
Shayla Greenop, 19, and her aunt Lynnette Greenop, 39, both pleaded not guilty to all charges during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow last Thursday.
The pair are accused of killing Sharon Greenop, 46, at the home the three women shared in Aldersyde Avenue in Troon’s Muirhead.
The murder charge cites that Sharon was assaulted on various occasions between September 8 and November 10 last year.
It’s alleged she was repeatedly struck with “objects” and had her neck compressed.
Sharon is stated to have been so severely hurt that she died from her injuries.
A fraud charge alleges her daughter and sister burned scented candles to “conceal the smell” from the decomposing body.
Police who called at the property are said to have been told that Sharon was “unwell” and “resting in bed”.
The charge states £ 386 a week in benefits was claimed despite Sharon being dead – and that her bank card was used to withdraw cash.
Lynnette Greenop faces separate accusations of assault, theft and also of fraudulently claiming a carer’s allowance.
Lord Beckett set a trial date which is due to begin in March.
The accused pair, who now live at separate addresses in Ayr, had their bail continued in the meantime.
