Kirstin and Mark are tops
Seaforth athletes run off with awards
Mark Caldwell and Kirstin Oakley were named athletes of the year at Ayr Seaforth’s annual awards night in the Carlton Hotel, Prestwick.
Around 140 people attended the event which was again sponsored by Mactaggart & Mickel Homes.
Unfortunately, neither of the two main trophy winners could attend as Mark had work commitments while Kirstin is studying / competing in America.

Special awards: Glen Harrower Memorial Trophy for Male Club Athlete of Year: Mark Caldwell: presented in recognition of Mark’s continued dedication to Ultra Running. Runner- up was Euan Duff who was rewarded for continued progress in long jump.
Maureen Harrower Memorial Trophy for Female Club Athlete of Year: Kirstin Oakley. She is currently studying and competing in America and during the 2017 season set numerous new club records at both U20 and Senior level in 1500m, 3000m Steeplechase and 5000m.
Runner- up was Carolyn Harvey who broke the club record for Senior Women’s Triple Jump in 2017. She was first at the Scottish National Senior Indoor Championships, second at the Scottish National Senior Championships and third at the England National U23 Championships.
Simon Campbell Memorial Trophy for Best Achievement U17 Men: Euan Duff. Hazel McNee Trophy for Best Achievement U17 Women: Amy Leith in recognition of her achievements in throwing events, including third at the Scottish National Age Group Championships.
Ernest Thursby Trophy for Excellence in Field Events: Carolyn Harvey. Sean Carson Memorial Shield for Excellence in Throwing Events: Amy Leith.
Andy Smith Cup for Special Contribution to Ayr Seaforth: Kirsty Kemp in recognition of her dedication to coaching.
Trophy for Excellence in Track Events: Kirstin Oakley. Trophy for commitment to RaceRunning: David Phee for dedication to coaching.
Trophy for Volunteer of the Year Age U25, for contribution to the life and work of Ayr Seaforth: Ailie Shanks. Joined the club as a young athlete and now continuing her club connection as a coach.
Trophy for Excellence in Road Racing/ Ultra Distance Running/ Hill Racing: Mark Caldwell.

Special awards presented by Seaforth: Gemma Bruce: for setting two new U15 girls’ Scottish Indoor 300m records of 41.69, followed by 41.56 at the Emirates Arena.
Gavin Drysdale: Four firsts, including two world records at the CPISRA Racerunning World Championships in Denmark.
