Six of the best does it for Ayr ladies

-

Ayr Ladies 1st XI delivered six of the best to beat Dundee Uni 2s by 6- 1.

It was 3- 0 by half - time with Louise Hill hitting two and Alice Wilson also on target. The third was a cracking strike by player of the match Charlotte Sampson but Hill sneaked a touch to help the ball over the line.

Ayr were hungry straight from the restart and two great goals followed from Nikki Cumming and a reverse hit from Sampson.

Ayr then lost a goal due to bad timing of the subs but bounced back with a Ruth Hall strike from a short corner. Ayr now travel to face St Andrews Uni 2nd XI.

Leaders Ayr gents 2nd X1 lost 5- 3 to bottom dogs East Kilbride who avenged a previous 9- 0 defeat with a very different team in opposition.

It was hard from the start not helped by Ayr not getting into a rhythm and passing well and often giving away possession.

A well flicked shot from a short corner found the net to put East Kilbride ahead and only then did Ayr start playing and manage some decent attacking moves.

An inspirational team talk at half- time didn’t help and Ayr re- started poorly with EK’s experienced forwards adding four quick goals.

Ayr showed negativity but uplift was found when Andrew Tindall pushed home a deflection. Caleb Beers followed up with a second and then Luca Hall a third with a well taken shot deflecting off the keeper.

The tide turned but it wasn’t sustainable. Now comes the last of the 2017 league games, against Oban in Helensburgh.
