Police give lowdown on crimes

Girvan police received 152 calls between October 3 and November 7.

Of these calls, 23 of them were officially reported as crimes.

This included four road traffic offences, which includes either dangerous driving or driving without insurance or tax.

There was two assaults and three breach the of peaces - for which reports have been submitted.

There were a number of thefts and shopliftin­gs.

Three thefts were reported - including a phone which has been detected.

Metal was stolen from an address in the town and investigat­ions are ongoing.

A car on Boyle Court was vandalised, with the wing mirror being damaged - it is still being investigat­ed.

Two people were arrested for knife possession.

And from a separate case a large amount of drugs were seized from an address.

A car on Wilson Street was stolen from - again still being worked on.

Houses on Elder Avenue and Chesnut Drive were broken in to.

A police spokespers­on said: “Unfortunat­ely we are getting to that time of year when the night are darker.

“People should stay alert and keep their safety as a top priority.

“It is recommende­d to put timers on whenever possible - especially when you are not home.”
