Have your say on the future plans

Deadline is looming

- Gary Fanning

People in South Ayrshire were this being urged to get involved and h e l p i n f l u e n ce developments in their communities in the coming decade.

The Council’s launched a ten week consultation on its Main Issues Report which runs between Monday, 20 November and Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

The Main Issues Report is the first formal consultation being looked at for the new Local Development Plan ( LDP).

The LDP will include information on where developments should and should not take place and will act as a guide for the next 5- 10 years.

It will cover all land uses, including: housing, t ransport, business and industry, tourism, coastal development and protection, green belt, renewable energy, office development, waste, and woodland.

An interactive storymap has been produced to help bring this to life, with people able to find out more about all the area being looked at and to directly respond to any issues you may have a view on. This can be viewed here.

Councillor Br i a n McGinley, SouPortfolio Holder for Economic Development, Tourism & Leisure said it was important for people to get involved, “We’re committed to making lives better for people in South Ayrshire and part of that process involves finding out what people want to see developed in the years ahead.

“This consultation will help inform the types of development that are allowed as well as the location, so if you have strong views on what you think should and shouldn’t be allowed we want to hear from you.

“There will be a number of public meetings in the coming weeks where people will be able to put their questions directly to officers, but we’re also happy to take comments online through our interactive guide to our priority areas. I’d urge anyone with an interest in their local community to get involved and let us know what you think.”

If you have a query on the Local development plan you can either phone: 01292 616 693 or email: localdevelopmentplans@ south- ayrshire. gov. uk

The deadline for comments is Wednesday, January 31.
