Rockers get ready to whip up a WinterStorm

- Charlene Bennie

Troon’s very own classic rock festival WinterStorm is set to return for another year, with another exciting line- up.

The two- day seaside weekender takes place from Friday, November 24 to Saturday, November 25. Live acts will perform on both the main stage and the free Jagermeister stage.

This year sees legendary musicians take to the stage such as Bernie Marsden from Whitesnake, Graham Bonnet from Rainbow and Chris Glen from the Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

Event organiser Ian McCaig from Plan B events believes that the WinterStorm festival puts Troon on the map.

He said:“I think it’s magnificent that a town like Troon is putting itself firmly on the Rock map and it this event gets the support it’ll be great not only for rock fans from all over the UK and beyond but also for local businesses and tourism.

“It’ll be great fun to get down the coast for the weekend, listen to some wonderful musicians and get that Ayrshire sea air.

“New York rockers Tyketto are the headline act for Friday while The Quireboys will headline Saturday.

“As well as international bands, there will also be entertainment provided from Ayrshire- based musicians Ken O Hara and Losing Ground.

“This festival is family friendly. Groups of 10 children, providing they are accompanied by two responsible adults, can attend the festival from 4pm and 7pm on the Friday or noon until 3pm on the Saturday.

“This will give them the chance to get a feel for a real rock concert.”

Ian McCaig, of Plan B events, said: “Events such as WinterStorm provide kids the chance to see first hand how exciting live music can be and the work that goes on stage in between bands, the lighting, the sound and the organisation.

“If it can inspire one child to pick up a guitar or hit the drums or join a band then it will have been worth it”

Tickets are selling out fast, with rock fans from all over Scotland, England, Wales and even as far as Germany, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland already set to attend, so hurry if you do not want to miss the chance to go along to this rocking event.

Hotels nearby have already sold out their rooms over the weekend, and trains from Glasgow are set to be mobbed with music fans.
