Oliver’s championship rallying call

-

Rally and racing driver Oliver Hunter has switched his attention to rally driving after his successful karting career.

Oliver, a pupil at Belmont Academy, is competing in the J1000 Ecosse championship for drivers aged 14- 17 years old.

Oliver gained his Junior Rally Licence at Knockhill Race Circuit a few months ago, passing first time with 100 per cent marks.

He competed on his first rally with his new co- driver Tom Hynd at Kames Racing Complex in October and finished seventh overall. With confidence building at the end of the rally, he was posting stage times within seconds of the current British junior champion.

Oliver’s dad Stephen, an ex- rally driver, is full of praise that Oliver is so highly technically advanced as a driver at such a young age.

With a test programme over winter, and plans to contest both the Scottish and British Junior championships, he should have a great chance to compete for top spot in next year’s championships.

Tom Hynd, one of Scotland’s top navigators with four decades of experience, and originally from Ayrshire, is impressed with the talent Oliver has as a driver and full understanding of car control at such a young age

Oliver, 14, headed to Wales for the final two day event at Anglesey, which is the final round of the championship.

Oliver Hunter Racing and Rallying would welcome any interest of sponsorship.
