Troon’s helping hand for cup tie

‘ Bole boss gives Kirkwood a rundown on Yoker

Jimmy Kirkwood has called on old mate Carlo Walker to help Troon into the last 32 of the Scottish Junior Cup.

On Saturday, Kirkwood’s men entertain Yoker who lost 3- 2 to Walker’s Maybole in the West of Scotland Cup two weeks earlier.

Troon are favourites to beat the Central District side on home soil especially with Walker on their side.

Kirkwood said: “I’ve had a good rundown on Yoker from Carlo who has given me a few pointers. Yoker will be a big and strong but this is definitely a winnable tie for us.”

Troon could field former Glenburn winger Ross Donaldson while former Darvel wide man Murray Johnston is cup tied.

Troon came from behind to beat Cambuslang 3- 2 with strikes from Dale Shirkie, Adam Forsyth and an OG.

The visitors ensured a nervy finale when John Gemmell curled in a 25 yarder but then had David Green sent off.

Former Killie youngster Scott McLean has caught the eye of Ayr United. He was due to feature for the U20s but missed out through injury.
