The news that Ayr’s newest pub The Growler has been given the green light got folks talking.

Keith McBride said: “Sorry but waste of time and money if top of the town ain’t busy now one more eaterie isn’t gonna make any difference.

“Ayr will never get back to its former glory as long as the present councillor­s are in charge.”

Lauren Hobbs said: “Don’t think much of the name.”

Erica Freeman Smith Elfs said: “A growler is a container that is used to transport beer this may be the reason for the name especially if it’s going to have beers from around the world.”

A stroke victim being left in her own home after a ‘ string of NHS blunders’ riled up readers.

“No doubt like any other time it will be the front line service staff that are on the living wage that lose their jobs while the fat cats at the top worry not with their big salaries, benefits and expenses, jobs will be lost; it is inevitable!”

Georgie Dawson said: “So if they had made people redundant, and cut services it would have been a major problem.

“They are trying not to take away jobs or services and still it’s a major issue, seemingly.

“Nothing they do is gonna be good enough, so instead of having a go, why not some sensible suggestion­s on how to help?

Our front page story reported that a councillor forced his way into a student’s car to turn her music down.

Christine Steel said: “I’ve seen and heard people driving along, music blaring, totally oblivious to emergency vehicles trying to get passed them. He shouldn’t have done that, though.”

Zak McPherson said: “While he over- reacted I’m sick of people sitting in cars blasting dubstep with base out a window.”
