EGGER hail huge boost in employment figures
East Ayrshire’s largest manufacturer, EGGER ( UK) Limited, has revealed a massive increase in employee numbers during the last decade.
The Auchinleck- based firm has seen a 34 per cent hike in its payroll during the last 10 years to 133 employees.

And its Barony plant recently scooped the Apprentice/ Graduate prize at the s1jobs Recruitment Awards.
More than 32 per cent of the workforce have been with the company for over 15 years, bosses said this week.
Chris Fleming, mechanical supervisor, said: “I joined the company’s mechanical apprenticeship scheme straight from school and haven’t looked back.
“Throughout my ten year EGGER career I’ve been supported with ongoing training and this has provided me with the skills, experience, confidence and knowledge to progress through the company.
“I now oversee the daily running of the maintenance team and have responsibility for the mechanical maintenance of the production line at Barony.
“The company continues to support my development and I am currently in the process of completing my ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management.
“I really enjoy working for EGGER and would certainly recommend their apprenticeship scheme to anyone who is looking to develop a long- term career with a market leader.”
At its recent Apprentice Open Day, EGGER provided a unique opportunity for those interested in engineering and manufacturing roles.
Jackie Stevenson, EGGER’S HR boss, said: “At our very first EGGER Barony plant Apprentice Open Day we welcomed lots of young people, along with their parents, who were keen to find out more about the benefits of becoming an apprentice.
“There was the opportunity to talk to our current and former apprentices ( including Chris) as well as our training providers.
“Along with a tour of the engineering facilities, our visitors could find out more about EGGER itself, including the markets we supply into and our forestry operations.”
Recruitment for the latest apprenticeship positions in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical Engineering and Manufacturing has now begun.
