Secluded - with your own woodland!
This page has not featured Old Dailly before today . . . homes are low in number and rare to market.
The hamlet could be more accurately called Ancient Daily - as the old church has been in use since 1200.
Head up- river and you find New Dailly - another misnomer.
New Dailly, now just Dailly, began in the late 1600s when the church relocated to Milncavish on the banks of the River Girvan.
Old Dailly has the graves of five Covenanters and in the kirkyard lie two “Blue Stanes” or Charter stones.
Tradition has it that these were sanctuary stones and if a criminal or debtor managed to place their back against them they were unable to be apprehended. Another tradition is that the stones have the power to heal and bring good fortune to anyone who touches them. This has led to an influx of visitors wishing to see, and touch, the Blue Stones of Old Dailly.
In a field just to the north is the Baron’s Stone, a 37 ton granite rock that was deposited by a glacier from near Loch Doon.
The rock is part of the Hill of Justice where in ancient times the barons of Killochan gathered their men and murdered their enemies.
Enough of the history and to the present to this four bedroom detached property nestling in two acres.
You get your own woodland, including some magnificent old beeches lining the driveway.
The house is set well back from the road so complete peace and seclusion is guaranteed.
The inside will been updated to modern styles, but there is double glazing and a new boiler.
There are three reception rooms but also plenty of space to develop, including the conversion of two attic rooms and an outbuilding.
The drawing room/ dining room has a feature working fireplace.
Outside you also get a double garage, greenhouse and shed.
Inside you get a 17ft lounge with dual aspect windows with countryside views and which leads into the sun room. This room gets you views across your own fruitbearing orchard - and to that ancient church ruin of Old Dailly.
