place during August and the girls attending developed the skills to plan and lead dance sessions, learn dance games and choreographic skills.

Nineteen girls from South Ayrshire schools took part in this course and all achieved the Level 1 Award in Dance Leadership.

Following on from this, those girls achieving the Level 1 Award have been supported by

Active Schools to deliver dance sessions within their own secondary and cluster primary in preparation for the South Ayrshire Dance competition every December.

The success of this programme has resulted in dance becoming one of the most popular activities delivered by South Ayrshire Active Schools with lots more children becoming active through dance.
