12lb rare grass carp is landed
SPRINGWATER FISHERY
Four carp over double figures, including a rare grass carp of just over 12lbs ( see above), were landed during a successful netting of the fly loch to take out some of the carp and roach and put them into the coarse loch.
There were also some lovely roach up to 2lb.
That’s the netting done for another year. Roll on the better weather and a new stocking programme starting soon. BROOMHILL COARSE & FLY
Carp still getting caught despite cold weather. Bread is the best bait. Check with Fishery staff for best pegs.
The Fly Fishery was treated with blue dye to reduce the weed from growing. There will be a big difference come the summer.
With the dye in, it never put the fish off and less than 24 hours later, top rod was 17, 12, 11 and a few doubles all released.
Well done to Tam Jarvie who fished against Kenny Barrie in the knockout competition. Both released seven trout each but Tam caught first so he BURNS TROUT FISHERY
