- Lochlin Highet

Grab your chance on TV with both hands — that’s always the advice.

And Ayr B& B owner Karen McLelland did exactly that when she appeared on hit Channel 4 TV show Four in a Bed.

The mother- of- three has been running Blackburn Villa, on Blackburn Road, since 2015.

Her family and guests urged her to go on the show after she was approached by Channel 4 chiefs.

Her B& B was one of four featured in a week long prime- time episodic show.

Karen, 59, received just one slight under payment, leaving her with a total of 98 per cent of her total bill.

She finished with the best total, meaning she walked away with the coveted first prize.

She said: “I was speechless when it came out that I had won, and I was gobsmacked.

“It was a stressful final day, and it was so long – so it was a huge relief to be crowned the winner.

“It’s a huge honour to now say I have won such a fantastic prize.”

During the week, Karen had to visit B& Bs in Gretna Green, along with Pembrokeshire and Powys in Wales.

She said: “It was a lot of travelling, and it was quite intense.

“But it was also a long application process which took around four months.”

Karen cooks breakfast for all of her guests, including continental options.

Mr and Mrs Batley had a new Rockdoor installed by Caledonian Windows and Conservatories at their home in Ayr.

“We are delighted with the work Caledonian has done for us. From the point of sale to the fitting of our door, their service has been fantastic.

“The fitters at Caledonian are great at their job, we couldn’t fault them.

“We have had work done by a few of the different teams of fitters and they have all been excellent.

“They were also very tidy and left us with no mess.”

Mr and Mrs Batley chose a Rockdoor which is the best composite door on the market.

It is known for its fantastic locking system and strength.

The Rockdoors are manufactured with steel mesh reinforcement so if you are looking for a strong door that looks the part then choose the Rockdoor - you will not be disappointed.

“We had a Rockdoor fitted as our back door and we loved it so much that we decided to go back to Caledonian for a Rockdoor as our front door,” said Mr Batley.

“The doors are great quality and you can tell that they are very strong and secure.

“We will be recommending Caledonian to many

- we have already recommended the company to our neighbours as we love the Rockdoor and Caledonian as a company.”

Caledonian has a wide range of Rockdoors on display at the showroom in Ayr.

Feel free to pop in for a browse and try out the doors for yourself.
