Community groups are quids in

Community groups are celebratin­g thanks to a National Lottery cash boost.

A number of clubs across South and East Ayrshire have received funding to continue their community activities.

National Lottery Awards for All Scotland is a joint awards programme from the Big Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland and sportscotl­and who makes grants to help people take part in arts, sport, social and other community activities.

South Ayrshire’s Dailly Primary School have been granted £ 1691 to buy a range of new outdoor equipment for their early years centre which will support nursery children’s developmen­t.

The Big Lottery Fund have supplied Girvan Community Garden with £ 9690 to deliver a series of Green Gym sessions, and a further £ 1245 to The Tuesday Group to continue to provide a range of social activities for older people who have a hearing impairment in Girvan.

South West Scotland Regional Scout Council have been granted £ 10,000 to oversee five scouting districts in the south of Scotland.

East Ayrshire’s Cumnock Area Musical Production Society have received £ 7000 from Creative Scotland for their club, which will enable them to introduce additional workshops and performanc­es.

And Netherthir­d Community Action Training, who manage the Netherthir­d Community Garden, has received £ 7251 from Big Lottery Fund.

This will allow them to recruit a nature warden who will deliver a programme of community engagement and education activities around plants, wildlife and gardening.
